Calling All LGBT Artists
Show your work at the Pride Festival
San Diego’s “Art of Pride” will showcase the work
of local LGBT (and LGBT-friendly) artists at the annual
juried show and featured artist booths at
the San Diego Pride Festival, July 17-19 2009.
Juried Show:
Southern California artists can enter their own original, recent work to be shown in a two-venue juried exhibition. Our jurors this year are Tom Noel and Larry Baza of Noel-Baza Fine Art Gallery in Little Italy. There is no fee to enter.
Theme:
You are encouraged (but not required) to submit work that illustrates this year’s Pride Theme: “Stonewall 2.0 - Activism for Equality.”
Cash prizes include:
Best Use of Theme: $100, 1st Place: $100, 2nd Place: $75, 3rd Place: $50.
Prize winners will be announced during a Friday evening reception at the Festival. The show will also be exhibited at the Ray Street Annex Gallery in North Park for a reception during Ray At Night, July 11.
Featured Artist:
Artists can also participate by showing their work in one of our featured artist booths as part of the Art of Pride section at the Festival. Artists staff their own booths, and donate at least ten percent of their sales to local non-profit organizations that benefit our local LGBT community. Work shown and sold must be entirely made by that artist. To participate, go to www.artofpride.org and fill out the online application. Priority deadline is May 30 (please inquire about space availability after this date). Plan to attend a June 6 informational meeting. Booth fees of $135 full booth or $80 half-booth will be payable at the meeting or by June 15. (Fees include one weekend festival pass.)
